What Brady's Into

Brady is becoming such a big boy! He is really starting to get his own personality and establishing his likes and dislikes! So I thought I'd do a little update on his favorite things!

His favorite foods: Yogurt (he LOVES it!), Tyson all-natural chicken strips (these are awesome! They're not pre-cooked and there are no additives, all real white meat chicken, we get these at Costco), Sweet potato fries (another great Costco find...organic and really yummy), and his favorite treats are Annie's organic graham treats (they come in a big box of snack packs with chocolate chip, chocolate, honey and cheddar), and the organic apple slices from Costco.

Favorite Drinks: Well this one is pretty boring. I only let him have milk (he's on skim now) and water...not too exciting but he's never liked juice of any kind so it keeps it simple.

Favorite shows: Much to my disappointment Brady has started to get in to t.v. I loved it that he had NO interest in it just a few short weeks ago but unfortunately he is starting to get hooked. Luckily all the shows he likes are on PBS and educational. We don't let him watch too much t.v. as I would much rather have him be active and play (luckily he is ALL BOY and loves to play ball of any kind). His all time favorite show is Super Why. He loves it! He also likes Curious George, Dinosaur Train and Calliou (I just love how he sings the intro song to this show...too cute!)

A friend of mine has a little boy who also loves Super Why and dressed him up as a character for Halloween...I'm already on a hunt for him to be Wyatt next year!

Favorite Books:: Brady loves being read to. His favorite books are: Guess How much I love you, his word book, alphabet book (he knows almost all of the alpahbet so far), and his all time favorite book is 'Daddy Loves Me'.

Favorite Activities: Brady really enjoys kicking his soccer ball (or any ball) into his soccer goal (he can get some real air under his kick (as we've witnessed many times as he's hit all of the pictures we have hanging on the walls), he likes to shoot hoops and has become quite a little helper in the kitchen. He likes to help me empty the dishwasher and help me cook. He is such a great helper!

Here's a picture of our big boy...he just seems so grown up in this picture!!!

Week Off....

I am taking this week off from blogging. It has been a crazy stressful week already and it's only Tuesday! This week are the annual health assessment screenings at Grand View and that makes for a very early morning and busy day by the time I finally get to my desk (around 11:30, just in time to teach group fitness classes). I have also been taking the softball team through workouts on Mondays and Wednesdays (which has been SO fun!!). They are a great group of ladies! So my days at work have been very long. But I love my job! I just need to focus my time at home to be a connected mommy and wife and not worry about blogging.
But I'll be back next week!

Choo Choo...

Brady just loves the choo-choo train he got from Lori and Larry (daycare providers)...he loves to push the train around and say 'Choo-Choo'.

Silly Boy!

Brady had a great time with Grandma and Grandpa Petersen last weekend...when we went to pick him up, he was in a goofy mood. He was trying on my brother's hat, my scarf, etc...and decided to model for us...it was a hoot!

With Uncle Chris's hat on

Sportin' mama's scarf

After he got his scarf on, he grabbed his 'purse' and headed towards the door...it was so funny

Tuckered out from a fun weekend!

Weekend Get-a-way!

On Friday we dropped Brady off with my parents and headed down to Kansas City for a much needed weekend get-a-way! When we got to KC we checked in to our hotel (Embassy Suites) and then decided to go to Nebraska Furniture Mart and there is a great outlet shopping center right by it. So we checked out a couple shops there and then decided to go get some dinner at Carabba's. It was a very yummy dinner. After dinner we sat in hot tub and just relaxed.
On Saturday we got up, worked out, ate breakfast (which is great at ES) and then spent the day shopping and looking around. We headed back to the outlet mall, went to Oak Park Mall, ate lunch at this great noodle place, went to the plaza and enjoyed driving around looking at all the neat homes. We went back to the hotel and got ready for a wonderful dinner...we went to Fogo de Chao which is a Brazilian steak house. And SO yummy! It's just such a neat experience (they bring different meats around, 15 different ones to try). This was Andy's first experience but I had been once before when we had a girls weekend in MN last May. After dinner we were so full and walked around a little and then headed back to the hotel. We got up on Sunday, ate breakfast and went to pick Brady up.
It was such a wonderful weekend! We hope to do this again very soon!!!
I only got 1 pic of us but also am sharing some pics of our hotel suite!

More Birthday Celebrations!

Last week Andy's parents came to town and all the Cathcarts ventured out to Famous Dave's to celebrate Andy and Steve's birthdays. Afterwards we all came up to our house for some cake and serious play time for the boys. They had a lot of fun playing together!

Here are just some fun photos I took of Brady the other day. He loves to 'cheese' it up for the camera...you can really tell in these pictures that I buzzed his hair! Ha ha! Oh well!

YES!!!

5 years ago today at the top of the Millennium Hotel's revolving restaurant in St. Louis, Andy asked me one very important question that would forever change our lives...and I said YES! What a wonderful day it was, I was so surprised and excited (even though it was on Friday, the 13th!!). I just can't believe everything we've been through in the past 5 years and how much our lives have changed. I'm so excited to see what the future holds. This weekend we're going on a little get-a-way in Kansas City, just the two of us. We will miss Brady but it will be so good for us to get a weekend just to ourselves. Love you honey and so happy you asked me that very important question 5 years ago!

Here's a picture of us in the lobby of the hotel right after the big question!

Our Little Panther

Here is Brady rockin' some of his new Panther gear he got for Christmas from Uncle Nick and Aunt Kayla. We thought he looked so cute. He loved wearing the hat and kept it on for most of the day. :-)

On Sunday we headed over to Brad and Steph's for Holden's 1st Birthday Party. We can't believe he is already 1 year old! We hope you had a wonderful birthday Holden!

Happy Birthday Andy!!!

Today is Andy's 31st Birthday!!! Both Brady and I want to wish you a very Happy Birthday Honey. We love you very much and are so lucky to have you in our lives...
Here's a fun pic from our honeymoon and since I know how much you would prefer to be in a tropical location than in Iowa during the winter, I thought this picture was perfect!
Love you!

Our Little Alfalfa

Brady's hair was getting OUT-OF-CONTROL...he would wake up with horns on side of his head or hair sticking straight up. So, it was time to cut it. This is never a good experience with him. I have cut it many times and he hates it. We've taken him to a salon and he hates it. He screams the entire time. We decided I was just going to use the clippers and basically shear him like a sheep. He looks so much better (I'll post pics of the after later) but wanted to you appreciate the 'before' picture first!

More Play Time

Brady got to spend lots of time playing at the mall playground over the holidays. I ran out west multiple times over the holidays and I made sure that Brady was able to run off some energy. He loves it there!

A little baking time...

I had been wanting to try this great cinnamon roll recipe that I found on a blog and that people just raved about. I've never made anything that requires yeast before so this was all new to me. The one catch is that the recipe makes enough for 7 pans of cinnamon rolls so I wanted to time it so we could give some to friends, etc. It was quite a process but they did turn out pretty tasty!

Rising before they go in the oven

This recipe is NOT low-cal...LOTS of butter, sugar, etc...

The final product! Brady loves 'em!

Happy New Year!

We hope you had a wonderful Christmas and New Year! We got to spend lots of time together as I had quite a few days off and so did Andy. Our daycare provider always takes the week between Christmas and New Years off and luckily working in a university setting, I had most of that covered. Jen was nice enough to watch Brady on Wednesday for us so I could go in to work. We had a pretty low key weekend and New Years which was very much welcomed. We got together at the Water's house and the Fuhrman's came over too. We had lots of yummy appetizers and we watched the kids play and got to catch up.
While the boys were busy playing, I looked over and saw Brady playing with this...

I think it's so cute that he was playing with the baby! Andy, not so much. Ha ha! He loved to hold the baby and feed that baby.
Happy 2011 from the Cathcarts!
