Lately...

Lately we've been celebrating some birthdays!  Last Thursday was Andy's 33rd birthday and Friday was Steve's 60th birthday!  Happy Birthday Cathcart Men!  We celebrated Friday night with a yummy dinner at Jethro's here in Ankeny and ended the night with some cake and ice cream!

Lately we've been focusing on family.  My mom's mom has had a rough week or so.  Many health complications, a stay in the Creighton ICU and now she is temporarily in the Nursing Home in Elk Horn.  So on Sunday we headed back to my parents, took the boys up to see both of their great-grandmas in the Home, ate lunch with the fam and then headed back. 

Lately we've been super excited for our trip to Jamaica!!  6 days, 5 nights in the sun...yes, please!!  Can't come at a better time!

Check-up Time!

This morning I took both boys in for their well-checks.  Mason had his 9 month check up and here are his stats:

Weight:  20.14 lbs (70th percentile)
Height: 28.5" (55th percentile)
Head circumference: 28.5 (50th percentile)
He is happy and healthy!
He has 2 teeth and we think he's working on some more!


 

Brady's Stats:

Weight:  45.2 lbs (95th percentile)

Height: 42 7/8" (90th percentile)

He had 3 shots today and didn't cry!  Such a big boy!!  He also helped comfort Mason while he had his 2nd flu shot today. 

 

We are so blessed to have 2 healthy boys and we don't take this fact for granted. 

Basketball Baby

On Saturday Brady started 4-5 year old Basketball.  He was so excited and did such an awesome job shooting and dribbling and loved the practice time...but once the game started that was a different story.  He didn't want really anything to do with it.  So he took it all in and said that he wanted to play next week.  So we'll see how it goes!  He's only 4 and this is the first league he's done (luckily the rest of the boys on his team are all 5 so they they've been through this before) so no pressure.  He is such a good shooter and dribbler, I just hope he decides to play in the games!

 

 

Monkey

It is no secret that Brady has a friend and his name is Monkey.  He has had Monkey since he was about 2-3 months old.  He is SO attached to Monkey!  It started with him just wanting to sleep with Monkey and now he always has him with him.  We have had to start cutting back on letting him take him so many places, mainly for fear that if he were to lose him he'd be devastated and I don't know what we'd do.  A for the past 2-3 years we have tried to find a replica of Monkey but have had no luck at all.  Poor Monkey looks like he's been through the ringer (he looks anorexic!!  He needs some more stuffing!!)!!  This past week we decided that he can only have Monkey at home (he can't take him with to the grocery store, preschool and he even had to take him to his basketball game on Saturday).  So in the mornings he's been making Andy tuck him in or cover him up and he even asked Andy to leave the TV on for Monkey as they were leaving for daycare!  What a hoot!!!
