On Christmas morning Andy and Brad bundled up Brady and Jaxson and went outside to play and do some sledding. Brady had so much fun...he loved it and loved being pulled by both Andy and Brad. He liked to go fast (not surprising!) At least we know he likes the snow!
On Friday Santa came for a visit at Nana and Papa's. Brady was very apprehensive and scared...daddy had to hold him in order for him to even come close to him. Hopefully next year he will be more excited for Santa!
On Thursday after Andy got off work, we headed up to Gowrie to beat the snow. We had a great time with family for Christmas. We opened gifts on Friday afternoon and even had a visit from santa (will post that later). We got all ready and went to church and Brady lasted about 5 minutes before I had to take him home. He was out of control! On Saturday Karl, Lisa, Laura and Adam came over for a yummy lunch and before we knew it, it was time to head home. We got completely spoiled, ate WAY too much and had a great time! Here's lots of pics to enjoy!
On Wednesday evening we decided to have our own Christmas at home. One tradition I wanted to start with us is that we will get new fuzzy warm jammies for all of us and we'd have a nice dinner, change into our jammies and open gifts. Andy and I got take-out sushi and we got Brady a treat from Burger King (healhty, I know!). We put some Christmas music on and had Brady open his gifts. Andy and I got a TV for our main floor for our Christmas gift to each other but we did do stockings for each other. I look forward to many more years of traditions as a family.
Brady got the hang of opening gifts!
The tent we got for him was a huge hit (and a whole lot bigger than we thought it woudl be)
Brady and Cadence got lots of cousin time over the weekend. With 2 kiddos around the age of 2, there were lots of sharing issues...which is to be expected! But all in all they did great and would take turns the best they could!
On Friday after Andy got off work, we headed back to my parents for the weekend. We stopped in Exira on the way home to catch the basketball games. We were only able to stay until after the first quarter of the boys game as Brady was one tired boy! On Saturday we hung around the house, I got a hair highlight and got in a long run and then we got ready and headed out to Scott and Jana's house for the Petersen Christmas. It was so nice to catch up with everyone and Brady had a blast playing with Cadence and Taryn and listening to everyone sing Christmas carrols. We have a tradition of singing the 12 days of Christmas, it's funny every year and then we have a fun grab bag for the adults after wards. It was a lot of fun and Brady got wiped out so we took him home and he was knocked out until 7:00 a.m. on Sunday...which is sleeping in for him! He and Cadence were in the same room to sleep and much to our surprise, they did awesome in the room together. They have so much fun playing! On Sunday we got up, ate breakfast, opened gifts and then Nick and Kayla had to head back to DSM. Then Grandma Jo came over and we had a wonderful lunch of prime rib, cheesy potatoes, cesar salad and pumpkin swirl cheesecake! It was sooo good! We had a great weekend, got way too spoiled and loved spending time with family. Here are some pics of the weekend. I didn't take as many pictures as I wanted to as I was too busy catching up with everyone.
Here is our 2010 Christmas Card. Thanks again Jen for taking the picture for us! We love it and hope everyone has a very blessed Christmas. We are heading back to my parents this weekend for the Petersen Christmas extravaganza. Lots of food, family and friends and we get to see dad and Tom coach tonight and my cousins play on the boys team. I can't wait! :-)
With the weather being so cold, it's so nice to stay in our warm house and who wouldn't love cuddle time with this cute little guy (and his stuffed friends)??
We spent most of the day inside on Saturday and I got to do lots of baking! Yay! I had a little 'helper'!
Licking the beaters...not to worry...no eggs in this recipe!
One of my new favorite recipes...Mini Turtles These turned out so yummy!
As I was baking, I was talking about how much I'd love to have a stand mixer...well my hubby being the awesome guy he is went out shopping and came back with this!!! It made the rest of my baking so much easier. Can't wait to do a lot more!
