Boys will be Boys

We leave him alone for one minute...and you never know what he'll do...

When you gotta go, you gotta go!

Try not to stare at our dead grass!  Ha ha!  We decided to conserve water in this nasty drought!

Cereal Time!

Last week the pediatrician gave us the green light to try rice cereal for Mason.  I found some organic brown rice cereal at Whole Foods for him to have.  It went about as well as Brady's first time...not a lot of swallowing, funny faces from him and most of it on his bib!

Such a big boy sitting in his high chair!

Mommy, I'm not so sure about this stuff!

Adventureland!

Last Friday we took the day off and took Brady to Adventureland (or 'Benture-land' as Brady would say).  We had such a great time on the rides and he was so excited to take in all the sites, etc.  We spent the morning on rides, ate some lunch, did some more rides and then around 2:00 p.m. we headed to the water park...well we were there for about 10 minutes and then Brady fell hard on the cement, with the back of his head breaking his fall.  He was very upset and after approaching 3 lifeguards (absolutely ridiculous that the first 2 didn't know where their first aid stuff was), we finally got an ice pack, we then packed up our things and made the trek clear across the park to our car and drove him to Urgent Care.  He had a huge black and blue golf ball sized knot on the back of his head...poor guy!  His head hurt pretty bad but he was good for the doctor and nurse.  He had a mild concussion...at 3 years old!

 Loving the Ferris Wheel

 Bumper car fun with daddy
 Dinosaur ride with mommy
How every trip to Adventureland should end...at Urgent Care...we're actually really lucky--it's the first time he's ever had to go to Urgent care and with how crazy and wild he is, that's quite a surprise!

A Fun Weekend

We had a great weekend!  On Friday my parents came and took Brady for the weekend.  While he was having fun going to the Farmer's Market (in Harlan), shopping for new toys, going on grandpa's boat (although they couldn't go in the lake...no motors allowed...bummer), going to the beach (no going in the water...too gross I guess...), throwing rocks into the lake, playing ball and getting completely spoiled, we were busy with some fun of our own.  On Saturday morning we headed downtown to the Farmer's Market and had a great time enjoying the weather and taking it all in.  We also got to see Kris as she was in town with a friend at the market.  Then we headed west for lots of errands, shopping and eating lunch.  Then we came home, napped and got ready to meet up my Abby & Scott at Jethro's for dinner.  It was great seeing them, it had been far too long and we hope to see them again soon!
Then on Sunday we picked up Nick in Waukee and headed back to Kimballton.  We had lots of fun playing and eating a yummy lunch.  It was great to see Chris and JoAnna too.  We checked out mom and dad's new wheels and then headed up to the new brewery/cafe in Elk Horn for some yummy gelato!  It was awesome!  We can't wait to go back for more gelato and to try their wood-fired pizzas--serious yumm-o!
All in all, great weekend!

4 Months Old!

On Sunday our little man turned 4 months old!  He had his check up on Monday and here are his stats:

Weight: 17 lbs (79th Percentile)
Length:  25 5/8" (68th Percentile)
He's a chunky monkey but still smaller than big brother!

Mason, you are pure joy and we love you to the moon and back!
Now please stop growing so fast!
Love,
Mommy

Fit Friday

Well so much for posting on here regarding my fitness journey back from baby #2!  I'll try to do better!
I was really getting back in the groove of running again and could do 5-6 miles pretty comfortably...then tragedy struck!  I thought I had just stubbed my toe on our new sectional in the basement...well 2 weeks later, still bruising and a toe/foot that wasn't feeling any better, I decided to go to the doctor...yep, toe broken in 2 spots...awesome-sauce!  Which means NO running for 4-6 weeks!
And I had just bought me one of these beauties!
A Nike GPS watch so I could track my distance, mile splits and time better...guess I'll just have to wait to really break this beauty in!  So I've been stuck on the elliptical and strength training.  At least I can do some exercise but no group fitness classes either.  Aghh!

I've tried not to let it get me down and fortunately I'm back within 8 lbs of my pre-pregnancy weight...so I'm hoping to kick it into high gear over the next month or two!  We're planning another couples tropical trip (we're thinking Punta Cana or maybe the Caribbean) this winter so there's added incentive to work hard!
Here's to hoping for a speedy recovery!!  I only have 7 weeks until the Omaha Half Marathon...not sure how my training will go with only 2-3 weeks towards the end to get ready for it but I'm gonna give it the 'ole college try...

Drive-In

On Saturday night, the weather cleared up and Andy took Brady to the drive-in theater by Newton for some Daddy-Brady time.  They went to see the new Ice Age movie.  Brady had a blast and I know we'll all be going back again soon!

 Gotta have some popcorn

Getting ready for the movie to start!

And then the rain came...

We had such fun plans set up for Saturday.  We were going to hit the parade in Maxwell (where our good friend Jen is from), eat lunch in town and the kids were going to go on some rides.  It all started out great....The boys were SO excited to get lots of candy, see some fire trucks, etc...

Don't they look 'ready' for the parade to start?  Well they got some candy and the parade got going and then....RAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So we moved in to the Fire Station for some cover...here's our group trying to stay dry and keep the kids from going crazy!
Luckily in small towns, they let your kiddos get in the fire trucks, pretend to drive them and then give the kids lots more candy!
Mason didn't quite know what to think!

Long story (somewhat) short...the rain let up a little and it looked like the rain and storms were going to hang around a while...so we loaded up and headed home...but Brady still got lots of candy and we all got a funny memory!

Master Chef?

Cooking and baking is so much more fun with a helper like this little cutie!
