Weekend Fun

We had a great relaxing weekend! On Friday we went out for dinner at our fav Mexican restaurant in Ankeny and Brady was such a good boy! Saturday we ventured out to do some shopping and we were so happy with how good Brady did. We were gone for a good 6 hours and he was awesome! That evening our friends Travis and Ashley came over with their little girl Tessa to hang out. Then on Sunday we did things around the house and mostly relaxed. We have moved Brady from the Pack n Play in our room to his crib and he's done so good! He's sleeping longer at night too so that's been a great change!

Fun Pics

Today I headed up to Gowrie to see Grandma and Grandpa Cathcart. It was great to get to visit some more with them and for Brady to see them. Luckily the weather is supposed to be much nicer this week---last week I wasn't able to leave the house from Monday thru Friday--I had cabin fever pretty bad! Enjoy the pics, they're some of my favorites!
I am smiling more every day!!!
Look at that face!!

Saturday Family Christmas

On Saturday we headed up by Glidden for one last family Christmas. We went to Corey and Mindy's home (Andy's cousin is Mindy) for Steve's side of the family Christmas. It was great to see their home that they have remodeled--it looks awesome! One intersting thing we found out is that Mindy has a son named Brody (which was one of my favorite names) and his middle name is Joseph---So...we have one Mindy with a Brody Joseph and another Mindy with a Brady Joseph--too funny! We headed home after eating some yummy soups and the roads were a little hairy and it took super long to get home as there was a huge accident on I-35. The rest of the night we laid low and then Andy went over to Jon's for a dart tournament. Boys will be boys!

Friday Night Fun!

On Friday evening we met up with our friends Jen & Jon and their boys and Ashley and Tessa for some yummy chinese food at HyVee here in Ankeny. It was all you can eat and quite a deal! After we were all so full, we headed over to Jon and Jen's to hang out. Travis missed out on the fun as he went to his dad's bball game, maybe next time!

Why do we live in Iowa??

Andy and I find that we ask ourselves this question over and over again--always after a winter storm of course! The rest of our weekend we pretty much laid low. On Sunday we mainly stayed in and got things done around the house. My good friend Meredith came out to see Brady and it was great to catch up with her. I was planning on going to work today so my co-workers could see Brady but the weather did not cooperate so that trip has been postponed. Hopefully the weather holds up as Brady and I plan to take a trip up to Gowrie on Wednesday... Here are some random pics!

Brady has really started smiling and laughing--tried to catch it on the picture but wasn't too successful. It is so fun to see him smile and laugh (not with much noise but it's so cute!)

He loves to put his hands up by his face when he sleeps

Happy Birthday Andy!

On Saturday Andy turned the big 2-9! He got to spend some quality time with Brady in the morning while I went and got my hair highlighted. The boys had a great time hanging out together. Later that afternoon our friends Matt and Erin stopped by as they were in town for a family Christmas. It was the first time we'd seen them in a long time. It was good to catch up! Then that evening Andy and I went out for a wonderful dinner at Azalea in downtown Des Moines. It was Soooooo good, highly recommended. It had a great atmosphere and the food was fantastic! It was the first time we've left Brady with a babysitter that wasn't a grandma, etc. Andy's co-worker Tami offered to watch the little guy and she also brought her two daughters as they love little ones! Brady was really well behaved so that was a relief!

1 Month Old!!

On January 6th Brady turned 1 month old!! I can't believe it's been a month! I have a feeling the rest of my maternity leave is going to fly by! He is getting to be such a big boy! He is smiling now and it's so cute to see! He amazes us everyday and I know he's only going to get more fun!

Our good friends the Dillingers gave us these great cards to take Brady's pictures with each month. On the back of the card you write down all the great things they've done in the past month. What a great idea!

Trip to Grandma and Grandpa Petersen's

On Monday Brady and I headed to Kimballton to see Grandma and Grandpa Petersen. We had his 3 week pictures to drop off to them and to his Great Grandmas as well. We went up and saw Grandpa at school and relaxed the rest of the day. Then Grandma babysat Brady while my dad and I went to my uncle's basketball game. His team is ranked pretty high in state and they were playing a team that was ranked one spot higher than them. It was a good physical game and my uncle's team came out on top. Then on Tuesday we ran some errands and then headed back to Ankeny. That evening Kris and Steve were in town and all the Cathcarts went out for dinner for Andy and Steve's birthdays. I think daddy enjoyed being able to sleep through the night on Monday but I know he really missed his little guy (and I'm sure he missed me a little too...) ha!

Visiting Grandpa at school--what a coincidence that they both had on their Hawk gear!
I'm so strong! I can hold up my head!

Happy New Year!

We hope everyone had a great New Year! 2008 was full of great things for us, especially Brady. Our life is so different now and I can't remember what it was like before him. He is a true blessing--even at 2 a.m. when he's crying!
We had a busy week this week. Andy was off work Monday through yesterday and Brady and I were on our own today. On Tuesday Steve and Kris came down to watch the little man so Andy and I could get out of the house and do some shopping, etc. We had a good time and it was nice to do something just the two of us. We really appreciate them coming down!
On New Year's we had our good friends the Waters and their twins and the Dillingers and their 8 month old Tessa over for some food and to hang out. It was a nice relaxing evening and what a difference a year makes! We all have little ones now and it's great to compare stories and get advice from each other.
We wish everyone a blessed 2009!
