2 Month Well Baby Check-up

Well yesterday Brady and I went to the Pediatrician for his 2-month Well Baby check up. I was fearing this check up as he had to have 3 shots. Well we knew he was a chunky monkey but I wasn't sure how much he weighed...well he is up to 15.3 lbs!!! Which is the 95th percentile! ha ha! He is 23 1/2 inches long (75th percentile). Our pediatrician said that it's normal for a growth spurt from 2 weeks to 2 months and that he'll probably slow down now for a while.
The worst part of course was the shots...the needles are sooo long and he was in such a good mood, laughing and smiling and then they stuck him in his leg and he just started screaming. I think I might have been even more traumatized than he was. 3 shots later and I was holding him and trying to calm him down. Last night was a little rough with him waking up frequently but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. He is doing a little better today but really wants to be held. Poor baby!!!

Well this is my last day of maternity leave. I start back to work on Monday. I will really miss my days with Brady but I'm ready to go back to work. We hope everyone has a great Valentine's Day!

My First Basketball Game!!

On Sunday evening I headed to my parents so that Brady and I could spend some time with Grandma and Grandpa Petersen. We also wanted to go to the girls and boys basketball game on Monday night that was EHK (my dad coaches the girls) and Exira (my uncles coaches the girls). I also have 4 first cousins on the EHK boys team so it was good to see them play as well. Brady did sooo good!

Weekend Fun!

We had a great weekend! On Saturday we took advantage of the great weather and got out the jogging stroller and took Brady on his first jog. It was great! A little extra work but we were so glad we did it. Brady loved it...he just sat there with a smile on his face! Later that evening we headed to the Adventureland Inn for Brady's first swimming experience. The Cathcarts were staying there along with Stephanie's family. It was great seeing everyone and so much fun to see Brady in the water...he LOVED it!!! After the swimming we headed to The Big Steer for a wonderful dinner, then it was time to head home. On Sunday we finally felt comfortable enough to take Brady to church. I was a little concerned that the band would be too loud for him but he was great! He was such a good baby! So we know that loud noises don't bother him. Yay!

2 Months Old!!

Brady is already 2 months old! He is growing so fast!!! We are enjoying every minute we have with him. Next week we have his 2 month check-up so we'll see how big he's gotten. Unfortunately he will also get his 2 month shots--not looking forward to that. :-(

Play Date

On Thursday Brady and I met Stephanie and Jaxson at the Play area of Merle Hay Mall. With both Steph and I being at home with our little ones, we decided that we needed to get out of the house! The play area was great and there weren't very many kids there unlike the other malls. Jaxson had fun playing and running around and Brady had fun watching. After all the playing we went to Old Chicago for lunch. Both boys were so good!

Uh Oh...

Andy's fears may be becoming a reality...Brady has found his thumb and has been sucking on it off and on for the past couple of days. Below are some pics of him being caught! Of course mommy thinks it's cute (for now) but I know that it's a hard habit to break so we're hoping he is just finding his hands and won't get too attached.

Update

Brady and I had a great week last week. We headed back to see Grandma and Grandpa Petersen on Thursday and came back on Friday. We had a great visit and Brady was really good for the most part. They were able to see him laugh and smile and be sooo happy! We had a good weekend. On Friday we went out to eat at a barbecue place here in Ankeny, it was really good and Brady was such a good baby. On Saturday we ran some errands, did some shopping and both Andy and I were able to get in a run--the weather was awesome and it felt great to get out there again! On Sunday we laid low most of the day and I'm excited as I registered for the Chicago Marathon! It is October 11th so I have some time to get ready. We were going to go over to our neighbors for a Super Bowl party last night but unfortunately most of the kiddies that were going to be there had colds, etc so I was the over protective mommy and said that we needed to stay home. :-) Better safe than sorry! We wish we could have gone, we always have a good time!
I only have 2 weeks of my maternity leave left. I will be really sad to leave Brady but I know that we're leaving him in good hands with our babysitter and I'm ready to get back into a routine and get back into my running and classes, etc. A happy mommy makes a better mommy...I know that I could not stay home full time--I'd go crazy!!! It's been killing me being stuck inside for so long.
